The Offering Development and Introduction (ODI) process is used throughout Air Products to manage new product development. ODI requires the completion of technical and commercial activities before moving a project to the next stage. Criteria evaluated at each step in the ODI process include environmental, health, and safety considerations. If EH&S concerns are identified, they must be addressed before the project can proceed to the next gate. Overall, the ODI process allows for development of new products more quickly, more efficiently, and more successfully.
Our engineers use a similar approach when designing manufacturing processes. At several stages of process development we conduct thorough process hazards reviews. EH&S issues identified during these reviews must be addressed before the design can be continued on to the next phase. The potential risks associated with each of these issues are managed to protect our employees, our plants, and the communities in which we operate. |
