ORTHO-TOLUENEDIAMINE (OTD)

General Description

Ortho-toluenediamine (OTD) is a high purity aromatic diamine. Physically, OTD is light gray in color and will tend to darken upon storage as well as if exposed to air. It also exhibits a slight ammonia-like odor.

Applications

OTD is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of polyols, antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors, rubber chemicals and dyes. In addition, in many applications OTD is an acceptable alternative to the higher priced ortho-phenylenediamine. These applications include epoxy resin curing, polymer initiating, crosslinking, and chain extending and capping.

Availability

OTD is available in:

  • 55 gallon non-returnable drums
  • 5,000 gallon tank trucks
  • 5,000 gallon isocontainers
  • 20,000 gallon tank rail cars

Requests for OTD information or product samples can be handled by our Product Information Center at 1-800-345-3148 or 610-481-6799.

Guaranteed Quality

Air Products is committed to producing the highest quality products for our customers. To this end, we utilize statistical quality control (SQC) to monitor and control any variations from an established standard. Copies of our SQC charts are available for review upon request.
